Come be a part of the first amateur production of HAIRSPRAY in San Diego! Young Actors’ Theatre is looking for performers of all ethnicities to participate in our upcoming production of HAIRSPRAY. This highly energetic musical takes place in the 60’s when music was becoming livelier and integration was beginning. Parts available are:
Tracy Turnblad - Dynamic personality, strong singer, dancer and actress Edna Turnblad – Large than life, strong singer (often played by a male) Wilbur Turnblad – Sweet, humble, slightly nerdy. Warm personality and strong singer Link Larkin – Charming, handsome, kind singer, love interest of Amber, but falls in love with Tracy Penny Pingleton – Silly, energetic, best friend of Tracy. Strong belter Seaweed J. Stubbs – Smooth, energetic, soulful singer Amber Von Tussle – Sassy, bratty, blonde. Spoiled, in love with Link, but too spoiled to keep him. Velma Von Tussle – Motherly version of daughter. Runs the Corny Collins show Motormouth Maybelle – Seaweed’s mother. Heads up Dance Show on “Negro Day” on Corny Collins Show. Strong soulful belter. Little Inez – Seaweeds little sister, about 11-12 yrs. Old. Strong singer and performer Corny Collins – Suave leader of the Corny Collins Show. Must have the ability to connect with audience Prudy Pingleton – Penny’s “prudish” mother Gym Teacher Matron
