PowPAC Offers Double Bill at Readers Theatre Sunday, May 10    hits: 196
Posted by Reserved:

PowPAC, Poway’s Community Theater, will offer two diverse staged readings Sunday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at the theater, 13250 Poway Road, Poway, CA.

One is “Early Frost, " a gripping mystery by Douglas Parkhirst, that deals with two sisters who cope with disappearance of a playmate 50 years ago, and “A Betrothal” by Landford Wilson, a warm-hearted and gently humorous study of two frustrated flower breeders, whose disappointment, (and annoyance) at having their creations rudely passed over at a flower show, is alleviated by a momentous realization.

Both plays feature outstanding and award-winning actors. “Early Frost” features Lee Donnelly, Ruthann Taylor, Roxanne Conowitch, Celeste Conowitch, Cathy Himlin and John Porowski. “A Betrothal” includes Brenda Robinson, Chris Robinson and John Porowski.

“These are two very different plays,” said Krystal Price Workman, who is directing both productions. “Early Frost” is a tense, gripping play of two sisters coping with a childhood tragedy that brings the play to a startling climax and affords the actors an opportunity for skillful playing, while holding the audience spellbound.” “A Betrothal” is about two flower breeders who, through a bruising experience, realize that competition produces unexpected possibilities that will surely rock the horticultural world.

This is the fifth in a series of staged readings at PowPAC Reader’s Theatre of plays that could not otherwise be done on PowPAC’s stage, for any number of reasons. The format challenges actors and audiences to “flesh out” the story without the use of costumes and props.

Tickets are $10. There is handicapped parking and an elevator for patrons behind the shopping center. For reservations, please call the PowPAC box-office at (858) 679-8085 or visit our Website: www.powpac.org, and click the blue reservations button. You will be given three alternatives on how to reserve your tickets. You can also sign on reserve seats by Email directly to boxoffice@powpac.org. Your reservation will be confirmed by return Email.
